Series: New Protectorate 1
This was a spur of the moment read for me. I had no idea what I was getting into. I’d bought it one friend’s recommendation, and then another friend reminded me of it when I said I needed someone to decide what to read for me.
My friends’ have good taste.
I was entranced by this cinnamon-roll of a male-main-character (MMC), who was also a top predator and powerful. It’s an intriguing mix, that surprised me with how well it worked. The way that Teddy worked to ensure that his consort, his mate, was comfortable and with him all the time was beautiful.
Margot had secrets on top of secrets, and I appreciated the way they were ever-so-slowly revealed as the story called for more facts and information. I liked that she was determined and savvy. She knew how to play the game, and didn’t take things for granted. Didn’t automatically trust anyone that came along.
Consort’s Glory is a completely new to me alternate world. We have elves who are predators (and behave strikingly similar to predatory shifters or even vampires), orcs (who are thankfully not caricature villains), witches, humans, shifters, and myriad other beings that I’m sure we’ll meet at some point. I loved how the details of the world were doled out and never in an info-dump.
This was a fun, quick, and intriguing read. I’m interested in seeing where this world is going.
